The club cocktail came to print in about in 1939 with one of our favourite books Just Cocktails by W.C Whitfield. Brandy, these days, seems to synonymously be COGNAC. YES, all cognac are brandies BUT they are much more complex blends of brandies.
THUS, more complex in structure = More complex in flavour. This is why we use it like it is just good ole’ brandy. Which it is not. ha.
2 oz Brandy (our bias has us using Remy Martin VSOP)
1/2 oz Luxardo Maraschino
1/2 oz fresh pineapple juice
2 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters or Creole
This somewhat forgotten brandy cocktail is delicious, simple and classic. Add all ingredients to shaker and shake the hell out of it. Strain and consume.
